Does it need washing before use ?
First of all, this is hand made product and produced in a small factory so not all pieces are 100% identical. The advice given here is general and applies to the majority of the pieces.
As part of the manufacturing process, the brass sheets are cleaned before being formed into the container
However, dust and debris might get inside some of the pieces at the later stages of the manufacturing At the final stage of the manufacturing each piece is wiped clean from outside
Before shipping, each piece is examined and checked for any debris inside etc
As such the Makhla is ready for use on delivery (a little wipe of the applicator with antibacterial wipe or wet tissue might be beneficial but not necessary)
But for those customers who would like to thoroughly wash it, this is also possible and easy
You can just fill it with water mixed with your choice of detergent/soap and shake it well and then let it dry in the well ventilated area
To make the drying quicker a hair dryer is useful if you have it lying around
